How to clean gold ornaments or jewelry at home?

Gold ornaments are treasured by any woman. Women always would like to keep them safe and clean and without losing its natural yellow colour. A gold ornament when worn regularly tends to get dirty and sticky due to body sweat and external pollution.  Plenty of grandmas remedies are available for this. The best one being, the use of soapnut (Binomial – Sapindus) powder. Soapnuts are drupes containing
natural cleansing property in them. These have been used for cleaning for ages in India. Soapnut powder is available in Indian groceries in India. A small quantity of this powder has to mixed with water and frothed. Alternately whole soap nuts can be crushed, soaked in water and frothed. Soaking well will release more froth.
Now using this water which has the surfactant property and  a soft brush, gently brush the ornaments to wipe off the dirt. Finally rinse with water.

Caution: This is applicable only for pure gold jewelry or ornaments and not for the precious stone studded ones or enameled ones or any other substances other than gold.
